Moving is hard

well, we are officially moved out of Aggie village. we started emptying the apartment on Christmas eve. it took a long time for my whole family (all 8 of them) to pack up our house. Grace and I were a little overwhelmed to have so many people helping us, but at least it got done quickly. we only managed to lose the screws for the crib in the move.

Then we all went back to Brigham to celebrate. we decided to do Christmas a little different this year since there are so many of us and my youngest brother is 13. on Christmas eve we did a white elephant gift exchange. I got a pack of toothbrushes...come to think of it, I haven't seen them since. I don't remember what Erik ended up with. Erik and I gave out homemade mugs with emergen-C in them.

My older sister "did the grandma thing" and bought everyone pajamas and the 3 kids (Mitch, Mandy, and Grace) a bunch of presents. On Christmas we opened the gift from the person who drew our name. I got a pink T-shirt and a photo key chain. Grace got some cool chewing things (that I call tongues) that you can put grapes and bananas in for her to eat. Erik got some money and a checklist for his trip.

The day after Christmas we (my brother, sister, dad, and Erik) went back to Logan to finish up. I feel bad because it was my sister's birthday and she spent it cleaning my apartment. We managed to get it all in our little trailer and my dad's van in 9 hours. then comes the fun part.

Erik's car couldn't make it through the canyon. It just stopped dead in the middle of the icy road and wouldn't budge. my dad tried to give him a little push so he could get to the side of the road (which eventually they did somehow). The plan was that we would pull the trailer the rest of the way in the van, not sure if that would work either. Luckily, our good friend Mike just happened by and stopped to help. he was driving a vehicle that had 4-wheel drive and was able to get us the rest of the way home. oh, and it was freezing cold in the canyon (they let me stay in the van, silly people, though the heater didn't work). After getting back to Brigham Erik finally decided that a storage unit would be a good investment.

so the next day we rented a storage unit (5x10) and took the trailer back to Logan to get a refund on our money($200). The 29th we went back to Logan again. we had the apartment inspection. we sold our washer and dryer to this nice couple who is going to have a baby soon and our neighbor Jeff moved them for the couple. the inspection went well(we might get our deposit after all). after that was over we went to the school to get Erik's class registered (that's right, he was 3 credits short of graduating). I am not sure if he was able to work anything out. That night he left for NY.

Grace has had a hard time this week. being passed around to 10 different people can be a little overwhelming. I sense that she is wondering when we will be going home. for the past 3 nights she has just screamed. no one knows why or what to do to calm her down (getting shots didn't help). last night she just wanted her momma, she was done playing with grandpa and aunt.

Erik made it safely to NY just in time to celebrate new years. my family didn't really stay up that late. he also spent his birthday alone, on the road. Erik turned 28 on the 30th (the day Grace turned 6 months).

Grace and I leave for NY on the 6th. my sister re connected my cell phone (which my parents got for me) so I would have a way to call if I get stranded. I am very nervous. I don't want to live in such close quarters with his family. it is going to be very stressful. Erik and I agreed that if it is too stressful I am going to come back to Utah until he finds a good job somewhere else (other than NY).

Wish us luck!
